Obituary “The Restitution”, Plymouth, Indiana July 11, 1900 (A religious weekly affiliated with the Churches of God in Jesus Christ)
Bro. W. L. Winslow died at his son’s ( Alinson Winslow) residence 2053 North Third Street, Kansas City, Kan., of apoplexy, at 6:15 pm, Wed. June 27, 1900; aged 68 years, 4 months and 17 days. W.L. Winslow was born in NC, Feb. 10th, 1832. He afterward moved to Berlin, IN, and July 17, 1853 was married to Miss Linda Mira McClelland [sic], of Berlin. To this union there were born five children, three sons and two daughters. The sons, Hezikiah T., Alinson M., and Lenna R., all reside in Kansas City, KS, and were present to attend the funeral; Mrs. Retta Hayes of Minneapolis, KS and Mrs. Belle Smith, of Plevna, IN, the daughters, were unable to be in attendance. After marriage Bro. Winslow has resided in Berlin, Frankfort, Sharpsville, and Kokomo, IN, removing from Kokomo in 1878 to Hutchinson, KS, where he resided till the fall of 1893, where he moved to Kansas City, KS, where he has resided, engaged in the dental work-his profession-till the date of his death as above stated.
His first attack came Thursday June 21, and as he with his companion, Sister Winslow, were residing at a hotel, his son came and removed them to his residence. Symptoms of apoplexy continued day by day till Wednesday evening, the 27th, just preceding a heavy electric and rain storm, when all vitality seemed to be absorbed from the atmosphere, a second attack came, when he died within five minutes.
Brother Winslow has been a faithful and consistent laborer in the truth, and a man of broad acquaintance, both among our brethren and the world. Our first meeting with him was at a general State Conference of our brethren at Rennsalaer, IN, Aug 1875, where we formed a great attachment to him. Afterward the same year at Christmas we met him at Plymouth in Conference, than at his residence in Kokomo, June, 1876, then at Windfall, and from there we returned with him to Kokomo to immerse his son Alinson. Afterward we met him in Conference at old Antioch, south of Plymouth. From that date we met him no more till the past four months, we have been with him frequently in his office. We were in the city Wednesday, June 27, the day of his death, heard of his illness, desired to visit him but was looking after the location for our Annual Conference to be held in the City, Sept. 1 to 10, and was thus prevented. Thursday AM we took the train for Pleasanton for our tent meeting there; and on arrival there a telegram awaited us to return to attend the funeral. The funeral took place Friday at 3:30pm, at his son’s residence, when we spoke to the people on Resurrection, 1 Cor. xv 35 53, after which we laid Bro. Winslow away in a vault to rest for a few weeks, when he will be laid away in mother earth. Thus rests one, all who knew him had learned to love, till Jesus returns to gather his people.

She was taken sick Tuesday but was not thought to be in any danger, until about noon Friday when her symptoms became alarming, and about nine o’clock she died, having been speechless several hours. She was born in Adams county, Ohio, March 19, 1820; was married to Benjamin McKinsey at the ago of twenty, and was left a widow with one daughter eight years later. She was married John McLeland Feb. 19, 1855, by whom she has five children, three daughters and two sons, all of whom are living at home.
